4th Conference on Alternatives to Oil Use in Agricultural Applications

The Museo Vivo e Integrado do Campo e da Locomoción Agraria (MUVICLA) will host on 10 December the 4th Conference on Alternatives to Oil Use in Agricultural Applications, an event that will bring together professionals, researchers, companies, and stakeholders from the agricultural sector to discuss the energy challenges facing rural areas.
The conference aims to explore different alternatives to the use of fossil fuels in agriculture and livestock farming, addressing topics such as the electrification of agricultural machinery, the energy use of resources available on farms, photovoltaic energy, and the relationship between energy and territory.
The programme will feature contributions from specialists across academic and professional fields. Among the scheduled speakers is Marcos Vázquez Marey, director of MUVICLA, who will deliver the talk “What We Have Done with Energy and What We Will Do at MUVICLA”, focusing on the evolution of energy-related initiatives developed by the museum and its future lines of work.
Also participating will be Inés Santé Rivera, lecturer at the Higher Polytechnic School of Engineering of Lugo, who will address the relationship between energy and spatial planning; representatives from the agricultural machinery sector, who will present advances in electrification; and professionals specialised in renewable energy applied to agriculture.
The programme will also include a round table entitled “Agriculture and Food: What Energy for the Future?”, where participants will debate energy models that can contribute to ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of the agri-food sector in the coming years.
With this fourth edition, MUVICLA consolidates itself as a space for meeting, reflection, and dissemination focused on innovation, sustainability, and the energy future of rural areas, fostering knowledge exchange among professionals, researchers, and the general public.
